All theatre groups need people who like to tinker, paint, sew, draw, create with light, sound, costume and a myriad of things, to enable them to mount their productions. Off the Wall, a group of talented people who want to pass on their skills and knowledge, created an opportunity for interested people to learn skills that can be used in theatre or in their own lives for enhancement.
The writer has taken a number of these courses and has been able to bring them back to theatre groups to support them. Setting the Scene, which goes over 10 days, was always the best, as it brought together everything and created a set or an installation that would be used.
Government cut backs killed Theatre Ontario and has caused a loss of funding for many projects and Setting the Scene is one of them.
Getting enough people to attend this course would at least keep it going for this summer.
Do you, or do you know someone who would benefit from attending this course? If so, please contact Off the Wall asap. They would love to hear from you.
Please, spread the word.
Keeping theatre alive benefits us all.
